Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) Workshop

Location:Brighton & Hove
Type:Multi-agency training
Dates: 10-10-2018
Duration:3 hours

Why is the LSCB providing this course?

This course is provided to allow partners to understand the profile of the Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) and how their implementation and coordination monitors and manages the potential risk presented by offenders who reside within the community.

Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) is a set of arrangements to manage the riskiest offenders in the community to protect the public and reduce re-offending. MAPPA manages high risk sexual offenders and violent offenders in order to share information, risk assess and come up with robust multi-agency risk management plans for offenders in the community to protect previous or potential victims (or the public generally).

Target Audience:

This training may be useful for social workers, forensic team and health care staff, local authority housing members of staff and YOT workers unfamiliar with MAPPA but who may at some point be working with someone either subject to MAPPA or a victim or relative of a MAPPA offender. This workshop is not for those who regularly work with offenders.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify the agencies involved in the procedures.
  • Consider the roles and responsibilities of each agency.
  • Identify your own/agency responsibility
